Working with clay
has always been about having fun for Marjo Von Tooren, who has shared
her expertise as a teacher -and studio space- with both children and
adults on the island over decades. On the May long-weekend Von Tooren
promises to have a plethora of beads available at Down to Earth
Pottery alongside some of her new “Denman Island” mugs (complete
with the words stamped on the side), in addition to other functional
and decorative wares like footed colanders and lots of hand built
bowls.
At the end of August watch for a retrospective of Van
Tooren's creations at our local Art Gallery. This artist is also a
member of the Denman Craft Shop - another one of the venues on the
2016 Pottery Tour.
